Tell us about yourself

I'm Lori Drake. I have been married to my husband, Lance for almost 6 years. We have Ryder, our dog (7), Lincoln (4), and our baby girl sawyer (2). I love to travel and experience new places! I'm a big fan of reading. I really enjoy cooking as I find it relaxing, but I do enjoy dinner out as well. Family and friends are a big part of my life and enjoy getting to spend time with them.

I have worked out off and on throughout my life, but it wasn't until I had my first that working out became a necessity. I wanted to get back in shape because I left all over the place with my body and emotions. I struggle with depression so I knew that working out would help! That's when I found Stroller Strides and fell In love! I started Strides almost 4 years ago this fall and got certified to teach in January 2011 I have been teaching for 3 1/2 years Strides& Barre. This opportunity opensed up a passion I didn't know I had!

What motivated you to make a change?

I wanted to feel confident in my own skin and feel proud of my body because I have struggled for years with both!

Here is the question our moms are dying to know the answer to: What are you doing to get/stay so healthy!?

My family works hard at eating a balanced diet I still take Stroller Strides or Barre classes but I joined Camp Gladiator last October to help cross train while I was training for my first half. I started 2 to 3 days a week but now I go 5 days a week. It is a fantastic workout and helps me stay focused on my goals!

It can be SO HARD to find “me” time when you are taking care of your family, how were you able to make these healthy changes and stick to them while still doing all of you other day to day duties?

Thankfully my husband supports my workout regimen. I get up early to workout and he deals with the kids until I get home. I still struggle with getting everything done sometimes, but I know if I don't workout I don't feel as good. I know that if I don't take care of myself, my family doesn't get the best of me!

How do feel now? How has this changed your life?

I feel stronger than I have in a long time mentally, emotional and physically! This change has been for the best and helped me open my eyes on the kind example I want to be for my kids!

What are you most proud of? Or list your happiest moment.

I love when my babies make each other laugh and are protective of each other! Also, knowing that my kids are growing up with parents that workout and take care of themselves is an amazing feeling.

What advice do you have for other moms who want to get healthy?

Start out slow, make small changes, set goals that are attainable and write them down. Find a workout buddy to help encourage and support you!
