I recently polled our mamas in our prenatal fitness class, Fit4Baby, on what they think they needed to pack for the hospital. Here is what we came up with!

1. Comfy Clothes and toiletries: pajamas (gowns may be a better option especially if you have a c-section for less pressure on your incision site), slippers/flip flops, nursing bra and a robe.

*Pre-pregnancy clothes will likely not fit right after baby so bring something comfy for your ride home.

2. Your own pillow from home to increase your comfort. Let's face it hospital beds and hospital pillows are never as nice as what we are used to having at home.

3. A nursing pillow to increase your comfort while feeding baby. We have liked the Boppee and My Breast Friend.

4. Music. One of our moms made the mistake of forgetting music when her baby was born and was stuck listening to her husbands music. He had Nine Inch Nails. That may work for some people, but be prepared with your own.

5. Nipple Cream. The hospital will likely have samples to give you, but it may not be enough to get you through the first few days. If you have never nursed before the beginning is...shall we say...challenging. It does get better!

6. A camera. You do not want to miss out on taking photos of babies first few moments. Be sure to have extra batteries and a charger if you are using your cell phone.

7. Food/Snacks. You will likely not be allowed to eat until after the baby is born, but have some food handy. The cafeteria may not be open right after you have the baby. You will be hungry! Your body just went through a marathon. Fuel yourself!

8. Outfit for baby. The hospital will have onesies for you to use while at the hospital, but be prepared for the ride home. One of our mamas suggested bringing different sizes of clothing. Your baby may not fit into that newborn size. Sometimes the hospital will take photos of your baby and you might want something for them to wear for photos (nude is pretty cute too though!). Also have a blanket for the ride home.

9. Don't forget your significant other! Tell them to bring a small suitcase as well with toiletries, an extra outfit, comfy clothes and their own snacks.

10. Your birth plan if you have one.

What else would you add to the list?
