We have an amazing village here at FIT4MOM Queen Creek and we are so EXCITED to start mom of the month so that we can highlight a mom each month.
Our mom of the month for September is Melody Dallenogare. She is an awesome mom, friend, workout partner, listener and helper! She is one that rarely misses a class and is one of our resident comedians. She always has a good laugh for us. She truly cares about everyone and is the first to check up on you if she hasn't seen you for a while in class.
I really enjoyed getting to know her even more through this time. Hope you enjoy this as much as I did and thank you so much Melody! We are blessed to have you as part of our Stroller Strides family and village!
1.Where is your hometown and how long have you lived here?
I was born in Mesa, AZ and have lived here 31 years.
2. Tell me about your family members.
My husband and oldest child is Riley. I have 3 sons- Austin age 8, Cody 2, Owen 10 months. We also have 3 dogs- max, lacy and Lil bit; and our 80lb tortoise Squirt. We also have a very large and close extended family.
3. Tell me about your current/previous career.
I was a juvenile probation officer in the sex offender unit before deciding in 2013 I needed to be home with my kids. I'm currently employed with Maricopa county juvenile probation department and teach CPR/1st aid. I also teach private swim lessons.
4. What was your childhood ambition?
It was always changing... from teacher to professional athlete to lawyer.
5. what does motherhood mean to you?
Yikes. That's a tough one. It means so many things depending on the day. Somedays it means loving someone when they are acting unloveable. Somedays it means hours of running, playing, laughing and smiling. Somedays it means pure and utter exhaustion. It means experiencing every emotion I've ever felt, plus more I didn't know existed. It means strength, compassion, laughter, smiles, cuddles, boogers, hugs, trucks, and bugs. It means trial and error with moments of doubt. It means pure joy and love.
6. why do you love Stroller Strides?
What isn't to love? It's like our own little community of support, love, concern and no judgement. I know if I show up with vomit all over my pants and booby milk rings on my shirt I'll get hugs and encouragement instead of stares and whispers. Every class is filled with laughter from the kids and mommies! Where else can you get an amazing workout with emotional support and motivation and make friends?!
7. favorite exercise
Hmm....while doing them: nothing. Afterwards: squats. Not sure why actually. My favorite exercise activity is playing softball or baseball with my boys.
8. What is your proudest moment?
Woah! That's tough! When you have kids you experience so many moments of pride it's hard to determine. Well, one that always replays in my head is when I found Cody not breathing in his swing at 5 weeks old. It was just Austin and I, and of course I panicked. I immediately started cpr while I yelled for Austin to find my phone, which he did and I was able to call 911. at the time I was completely oblivious to what was going on around me but afterwards I was able to reflect. While we were waiting for EMT to arrive and I continued cpr, austin put the dogs outside, unlocked the front door and then "inspected" the swing to find out what caused cody to stop breathing. Austin had just turned 6 years old and i was in complete awe at how he handled the stressful situation and the care, compassion and concern he showed. One of my most proud mommy moments.
9. Tell me 3 of your favorite things besides your family.
My cell phone. My means of communication to anyone over the age of 3.
My pantry. Where else would I be able to sneak in an occasional Oreo without having to share with my offspring?
Bed time. Well, it's a love/hate relationship. My younger two hate me and there for hate to sleep but once they are asleep it's like a piece of heaven in my house.
10. Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us.
I have a completely unnatural fear of birds.....lizards......and fish.
We are so proud of you Melody and your hard work!
